Camel-supported trekking takes you along a single trail through the majestic Altai mountainous area in remote western Mongolia. A reasonable daily trekking distance allows you to experience camp nights in pristine nature, explore fascinating landscapes, enjoy stunning views, visit interesting historic sites, and immerse yourself in unique nomadic cultures—a highlight of this adventure. You will marvel at the highest mountains and largest glaciers, with the opportunity to climb one of the major peaks, Mt. Malchin, standing at 4050 meters above sea level. No special climbing skills or mountaineering gear are necessary for this ascent. Another highlight of the trip is the intriguing culture of the Kazakh ethnic people, known for training Golden eagles for hunting.

Upon arrival and check-in at the accommodation, engage in a guided city sightseeing tour to explore Ulaanbaatar's key attractions. In the evening, enjoy a captivating folklore concert, followed by a delightful dinner at one of the city's premier restaurants. Take a local flight from Ulaanbaatar (UB) to the remote Western Mongolia region of Bayan Ulgii. The trip support crew will welcome you at the local airport upon your arrival in Ulgii. We will then drive to Tsagaan Us valley near Khoton & Khurgan twin lakes. In the evening, meet our camel herders, getting ready to start trekking the next morning. After dinner in the pristine natural surroundings, you may engage in a little warm-up hike around our campsite to explore nature. After breakfast, dismantle our tents and load the camels with belongings and heavy bags. Carrying only our daypacks, begin walking through a captivating valley surrounded by wooded mountains, vast open spaces, streams, a small lake, and rocky mountains. As we proceed, snow-capped peaks start to appear in the distance. This journey may lead us across several streams and meadows, with the possibility of our hiking shoes getting wet. Trekking to the Khar Salaa
Continue trekking on a single trail through beautiful places, with our bodies slowly acclimating as we approach the mountains. The main challenge is the Takhilt Mountain Pass, elevated 3000 m above sea level, where you can enjoy the surrounding view at its peak. Then, descend gradually into the next expansive valley known as Khar Salaa. Accommodation: Tent (BLD) Trekking: Approx. 17km

Enjoy the trek as you traverse smooth and flat terrain. Along the way, encounter Tuva nomadic people in their gers, along with their horses, yaks, sheep, and goats. The sacred Shiveet Khairkhan mountain, revered by the local people, overlooks the end of the valley. Make a stop at the petroglyph site at the mountain's foot. After a picnic lunch, continue the journey, walking down to the White River Valley, where we'll set up our tent camp. Activities: Visit family, see petroglyph. Trek along the camel route to the base camp of the Altai Tavan Bogd mountains. After a picnic lunch en route, enjoy spectacular views of Mongolia's highest mountains and largest glacier. Additionally, come across a significant rock pile known as the ovoo, a symbolic way to show respect and make an offering to nature. Set up the campsite, and it's likely that we will encounter both local and international tourists in the area. Accommodation: Tent (BLD) Trekking: Approx. 18 km
Climb Malchin Peak
Climb Malchin Peak
Ascend Malchin Peak, and our camp will remain in place. The top of Malchin Mountain is 4050 meters above sea level, accessible to both experienced hikers and amateur climbers. Despite the challenge, taking in the expansive view of the surrounding mountains is worthwhile. It is best to relax in the evening after the 6-7 hours round trip return to the camp. Trekking to White River
Trek back to the National Park gate at White River Valley, taking a different route along the river and its canyon. Although this route is slightly longer than the previous one, it is more scenic and interesting. Reunite with our drivers and ready to depart for Ulgii the next morning. Today, take on an intriguing and unique overland 4x4 tour across the rugged desert to Ulgii town. The journey will include a stop at a nomadic Kazakh family, renowned for raising Golden Eagles for hunting. Upon arriving in Ulgii, check-in at our hotel, with a hot shower and a cold beer serving as the highlights of the day. Today, we return to the capital city via 3 hour local flight. Expect to arrive in the late afternoon. If time allows, have a leisurely walk about the city to browse for souvenirs and maybe indulge in the luxurious quality of Mongolian cashmere.
