Arrival and City Tour

Welcome to Mongolia. Our guide will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. After a welcoming lunch in a cozy grill restaurant, we will start the Ulaanbaatar city tour by visiting the most highlighted places in the city followed by a folklore concert in the evening. Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune & Kharkhorin Town

On the way to Kharkhorin city, we will pass through the Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune. The place is a unique area combining forests and Gobi sand dunes. Lunch at a tourist camp and you will get a chance to ride a two-humped Bactrian Camel over the sand dunes. In the afternoon we reachKharkhorin. Kharkhorin was once an ancient city that, for a short time, served as the capital of the Mongol Empire under Ogedei Khan. Another Kharkhorin landmark is Erdene Zuu Monastery and its famous phallic rock. Erdene Zuu is the first Buddhist Monastery in Mongolia, thatwas established on the ruins of ancient Kharkhorum City in the 15th century. The monastery of Erdene Zuu is a focal point of the history and culture of Mongolia. Accommodation: GER CAMP (BLD)

Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake & Khorgo Volcano

Known as The White Lake, Terkhiin Tsagaan is a lake in the Khangai Mountains in central Mongolia. The Khorgo Volcano is located near the eastern end of the lake and Terkhiin Tsagaan is a freshwater lake in a volcanically-formed valley. Accommodation: GER CAMP (BLD)

Ulaagchiin Khar Lake

Drive to Ulaagchiin Khar Lake. It is located at the heart of the Zavkhan province. This splendid freshwater lake is considered as one of the oldest lakes in the world, surrounded by beautiful sand dunes and snow-capped Mountain ranges. The lake has been protected as a Strictly Protected Area since 2010 and is one of the most unique natural scenery combining desert and khangai. The lake is 30 km long, 10 km wide and 48 m deep. Nearby mountains are home to rare wild habitats including snow-leopard and wild mountain sheep. Overnight at a ger camp nearby. Accommodation: GER CAMP (BLD)

Ulaagchiin Khar Lake

Khyargas Lake

Today, we travel to Khyargas lake. Khyargas is a saltwater lake situated in the province of Uvs. Uvs Lake has a length of 84 km and a width of 79 km, with an average depth of 6 m. It is one of the four lakes in Mongolia that have a surface area of over 1000 km². Besides its beauty, one other feature of this lake is Khetsuu Khad, a marble white rock on the eastern shore. This enormous white cliff is a paradise for migratory birds. It is a safe place to nest and has an abundance of fish species such as Altai Leuciscinae, Lake Osman, Mongolian grayling and dace that serve as a great food source for the birds. Khovd

Proceed to Khovd province. It is one of Mongolia's most ethnically diversified aimags, with a Khalkh majority and minorities of Khoton,Kazakh, Uriankhai, Zakhchin, Myangad, Uuld, Durvud and Torguud people. It is the most visited aimag in western Mongolia. Stay overnight at a hotel in the town. Accommodation: *Hotel (BLD)

Khoton Lake

It lies at the foot of the Altai Mountains. The landscape around the lake is very picturesque with snow-capped mountains, larch forests and green meadows at the foothills in the south. The freshwater lake is abundant in various fish. Its length is about 23km long, about 5,5 km wide, and 8.6 m deep. Stay overnight in a tent or home-stay with a nomadic family. Khoton Lake

Leisure day at the lakeside. Optional trekking and fishing activities are available. Accommodation: TENT or HOME-STAY (BLD)

Altai Tavan Bogd

Today we travel to Altai Tavan Bogd Mountain. Tavan Bogd, is so named for the five large peaks which lie right on the Western Mongolian border. The tallest of these, Khuiten Uul, is the highest mountain in Mongolia, at 4,369m. It forms the Altai Mountains tri-border between Russia, China, and Mongolia. From between these permanently snow-covered peaks tumble two spectacular glaciers. The valleys heading up toward the peaks are completely empty of people and absolutely stunning. We travel through the foothills of the mountains and reach the Tsagaan Gol Valley in the early afternoon. Here we will meet our equestrian to prepare for the hike. The place where we will do trekking is less traveled by people. It’s difficult to drive there by car or jeep. So, we will pack camels for all our bags and will start walking through the breathtaking landscapes by making a little caravan through Kazakh and Tuvan nomads’ summer camp. Altai Tavan Bogd and Return to Ulgii City

Today we will hike back, and meet the drivers. Transfer to Ulgii city. Check in at the hotel. Accommodation: *Hotel (BLD)

Fly Back to UB city

This morning we catch the return flight to Ulaanbataar. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Free afternoon for shopping. Farewell dinner together. Accommodation: *Hotel (BLD)

Departure

Transfer to the international airport for the flight back home. (B)
